Fine & Country hosted its fifth annual carol concert on Monday 4th December. This year’s stunning venue was Queens College Cambridge which was filled to the brim with over 200 guests.
Attendees began arriving from 6.45pm and were greeted with some mulled wine and mince pies. Everyone slowly made their way into the chapel, through the college and over the famous Mathematical Bridge. Gavin Human, Director of Fine & Country Cambridge gave his welcoming speech. Gavin gave an introduction to the Fairhaven Singers, who have been performing at the Fine & Country carol concert for four years.
In his speech, Gavin reminded everyone why Fine & Country were hosting the annual event; to support three fantastic homeless charities in Cambridge. Tickets were free of charge, however donations were collected for Jimmy’s, Wintercomfort and Emmaus Cambridge.
We are delighted to announce that through the generosity of our guests, £1,800 was raised. The donations will be divided equally between the three charities.
Jimmy’s are using their £600 donation to support individuals moving on from their Assessment Centre by purchasing kitchen equipment, bedding and furniture. Their service users are given vital care whilst at Jimmy’s and are supported through the next step to independence.
Wintercomfort is open seven days a week to provide welfare, learning and development opportunities. The £600 donation from The Fine & Country Foundation will help to fund its social enterprises programme, called the Pathways Project, creating employment and training opportunities for individuals.
Emmaus Cambridge will be their £600 donation to help fund a further 10 rooms for their service users, allowing Emmaus Cambridge to support a total of 44 people by the end of 2018. Whilst with Emmaus Cambridge, their service users, known as Companions, work on social enterprises such as working in Joan’s Coffee Shop. As a result, many have passed their Level 2 Award in Food Safety.
Steph Helme, from Fine & Country Cambridge said, “It was a lovely way to kick off the festive season. The choir was amazing and everyone is looking forward to next year.”
The Fairhaven Singers performed a mix of traditional and unique festive songs, some of which involved a sing-a-long from the audience. As always, they were a great success and The Fine & Country Foundation looks forward to another fantastic festive occasion next year.
