Turnham Green Terrace area guide - schools, house prices and transport

Turnham Green Terrace is situated in the London borough of Hounslow, close to Chiswick, in the West of London. What was once a hamlet on the main road heading into London from the west in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries is now a collection of period terraced house-lined high streets with independent bars, shops, cafés, restaurants, commons and good local schools.

Highlights and Attractions

The neighbourhood is popular for a spot of brunch, to-go lunches and after-work drinks. In the mornings, expect to see local commuters grabbing their coffee from Tamp, a modern-rustic coffee shop with pastries, or Chief Coffee, a speciality coffee shop and pinball lounge recommended by Timeout. Along the adjoining Chiswick High Road, find mums pushing prams on their way back from the school run, selecting fresh produce from High Road Market or heading to their luxury beauty treatments at Blo Bar.

Yogis carry their matts after a studio session at Sweaty Betty or Barrecore Chiswick, before stopping for brunch at one of the many cafés and restaurants, such as Côte Brasserie or the European style High Road Brasserie. Runners have the choice of Turnham Green, Acton Green Common or Chiswick Common to escape the bricks and mortar and spot community events, dog walkers and picnickers on pleasant days.

Chiswick High Road

There are plenty of restaurant options on Turnham Green Terrace, including Sushi Bar Makoto, Roebuck and Pizza Treat for casual dining or opt for a sophisticated evening at Michael Nadra Brasserie, Piazza Taormina Bistro or Vinoteca wine bar and restaurant. In the evenings, after-work drinkers congregate at the Soho House chain, High Road House, No 197 Chiswick Fire Station or one of the many pubs along Chiswick High Road.
