AGAs have been a status symbol of a country house since they were invented in 1922. Staying on constantly, they kept a house warm as well as slow-roasting food to make it taste better than a traditional oven. In more modern times, they have evolved to include an ‘off’ switch, making them more environmentally friendly, and they come in more colours than ever before.
