International spotlight: Morocco

International spotlight: Morocco

Morocco is fast becoming the destination of choice for both tourism and international real estate investment.

With its warm and friendly people, relaxed lifestyle, wonderful climate, diverse natural scenery, beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, numerous leisure opportunities and world-class hotels, bars and restaurants, Morocco offers unrivaled value for money.

With an ever-increasing number of global visitors and property investors, the future growth and prosperity of Morocco is assured.

With an average of over 300 days of sunshine each year, Morocco is a very diverse country, with deserts, snow-capped mountains, forests and pristine sandy beaches. Under the guidance of King Mohammed VI and his “Vision 2020” plan, the Moroccan government is taking great strides in improving the rail and road links, with modern highways and railways now linking all major cities.

It’s not just the internal infrastructure that is seeing an increase, though. The country’s new ‘open air’ policy is attracting more airlines, and many cruise ships stop at the ports, bringing tourists from around the world to sample Morocco’s culture. Plus, the super-rich are increasingly choosing to moor their yachts in the beautiful marinas.

The tourist hotspot of the country is the city of Agadir. You will find a huge range of good quality local and international restaurants, an exciting and vibrant nightlife with an abundance of bars and clubs, numerous shops and leisure activities.

The wide sandy beach in Agadir is 6km long with a promenade extending from the southern headland right around to the large modern marina. There is a full range of water sports available, with the area renowned for kite surfing.

Agadir is popular for golfers, with a golf training centre and five very different courses to test your swing.

Morocco is known for its Suk’s, and the Agadir Suk is a wonder to behold. The huge open-air market sells a wide range of merchandise and specialises in spices.

After a busy day of searching for a good deal in the Suk and experiencing some exhilarating water sports, there are many beautiful hotels and resorts to retreat to. Look out for resorts that not only have beautiful pools, rooms, and top-of-the-range facilities but could give you a slice of Morocco living.

Some resorts offer exceptional accommodation and facilities more akin to a private members club. Owners have the opportunity to use their property when they wish, but when not in residence, the property will be rented to guests, generating significant levels of rental income for owners.

Elsewhere, you will find beautiful beachside apartments to purchase or spacious Moroccan mansions with private pools. There is an option for everyone.
