As September comes around and school goes back in session, thoughts turn to the quality of education. No matter if you need to move into a specific catchment area for your child to go to an ‘Outstanding’ school, or need a short commute to the boarding school of your dreams, housing is a key consideration.

Here are ten top properties that have a fantastic school on the doorstep.

1. Binstead, Isle of Wight

Get away from it all with this home on the Isle of Wight. The Georgian-style property was completed in 2015. It is set in a substantial plot with security gated entry and has a luxurious master suite, four double en suites, a detached pool house and triple garage.

Ryde School with Upper Chine, the leading independent school on the island, is just over a mile away. Among the school's former pupils are the author Philip Norman and the 2003 world-record holder as the youngest cross-Atlantic yachtsman, Seb Clover.

2. Grantham, Lincolnshire

A substantial detached Victorian home standing in wooded grounds of around half an acre within walking distance of town centre amenities, local schools and Grantham Station.
