'Tis the season to be jolly. Take a look at some of our homegrown Christmas markets across the UK. We have listed some of the best Christmas markets to get you in the festive mood this year.
1. Winter Wonderland, London (November 18 – 2 January)
Winter Wonderland, in the heart of the capital offers a spectacular variety of activities and entertainment – fun for all the family. Activities include an arctic adventure in the Magical Ice Kingdom, Circus shows, ice skating around the UK’s largest open-air ice rink and London’s largest German-style Christmas Market.
2. Birmingham (November 17 – December 29)
Every year, the city centre is transformed into the largest Christmas market outside of Germany and Austria – and this year it’s celebrating its 50th birthday.
The market embraces German culture offering a variety of traditional decorations, toys, jewellery and gifts on sale. Not only that, there is also a large selection of food and drink on offer. If you’re in the mood for some mulled wine, weissbeer, or hot chocolate then visit the Birmingham Christmas market to enjoy all the festive treats.
3. Bath (24 November – 11 December)
Each year the centre of Bath changes into a magical Christmas paradise with over 170 chalets selling an array of Christmas treats. Wandering around, you can enjoy the sights and smells of freshly baked minced pies and the bratwursts cooking on the open grill.
4. Sheffield (16 November – 24 December)
The Sheffield Christmas market is a perfect place to celebrate the festive season in style and is always a highlight of the year. Wooden cabins stocked with a host of goodies with a choice of sweets, crafts and food. Handmade products and decorative gifts are plentiful, so if you’re looking for a gift for a family member or friend this is the place to buy from.
5. Cardiff (10 November – 23 December)
Situated in the heart of Cardiff city centre, the Cardiff Christmas market has over 80 beautifully decorated stalls, bringing together over 200 talented artists and crafts people, with an array of bespoke food and alcohol producers. What makes Cardiff Christmas Market so special is that every year, new stall holders are introduced to keep the market fresh and interesting with unique items that can only be found at the market.
6. Chester (18 November – 18 December)
are in for a magical treat at Chester Christmas Market, with an abundance of
festive treats and gifts on offer, including quality local and regional
products, crafts, clothing, accessories and unique gifts – perfect for stocking
fillers or a snazzy present!
There is also a chance to sample the scrumptious hot food and drink readily available, including mulled wine and hot chocolate which will give you an extra Christmas boost while keeping you warm.
Open 7 days a week, 10am to 6pm from Sunday to Wednesday, with late night shopping on Thursdays until 8pm and until 7pm on Friday and Saturday to fulfil all your festive shopping needs.
7. Leeds (November 11 – December 18)
One of the most established German Christmas Markets in the UK, Christkindelmarkt hosts traditional wooden stands, festive foliage, Christmas merry-go-round ride and twinkling bright lights. A truly unique continental festive atmosphere in the stylish civic setting of the award winning Millennium Square. Open 7 days a week, from 10.30am through to 9.30pm (except Sundays, 10.30am-6.30pm)
8. Exeter (November 19 – December 18)
The annual Exeter Christmas Market is being held at Cathedral Green. The special seasonal market offers a real Christmas buzz with stalls jam packed full of seasonal food and gifts.

9. Brighton (November 26 – December 11)

Christmas market in Jubilee Square is the place for you. There are around 20
festively decorated chalets, selling handmade gifts and crafts for the whole
family. Additionally, there will be huts selling delicious food and drink from

10. Winchester (November 18 – December 20)
around 350,000 visitors each year, the Winchester Christmas Market is a great
place to spend a few hours with either family or friends. The pretty wooden
chalets that house exhibitors and vendors selling interesting, high-quality
products that can’t be bought on the high street. On top of that, there is also
an open-air real ice rink for those who want a bit of variety too!
