1. East Barsham Manor

This was one of our finest homes on the market in 2016. The 16th century manor House has eight/nine bedrooms, six/seven reception rooms and a separate three-bedroom cottage with detached gatehouse. Rumour has it that, King Henry VIII once visited and walked barefoot to the shrine at nearby Walsingham. It was on the market for £2.95 million.

This converted Victorian church in the village of Blackmore End is one of our most impressive conversions. Originally commissioned by the Courtauld family, it was converted in 2014 into a stunning five-bedroom home by its owners. There are numerous stand out features, including the free-standing bath, first floor mezzanine and original doors leading into the grand hall.

6. Downscroft, Cheam

For a modern twist, Downscroft is the perfect property. The house centres around the open-plan turreted staircase, spiralling from the media, gym and entertainment basement. Designed in a modernist style with Art Deco influences, it is certainly a home with a difference.

The current Coton House was originally constructed in 1787 by the architect Samuel Wyatt. It has been meticulously refurbished and offers with high-specification fittings throughout the historic building.

9. Rampton, Cambridge, £630,000

Here is one of our favourite thatched cottages that was on the market this year. It is only eight miles from the historic university city of Cambridge. This three-bedroom former public house dates back to the 17th Century and has remained in the same family for many years.

10. Cote D'Azur, Near Cannes, France, 2,150,000 €
