Best properties of 2017

We have seen some incredible homes coming onto the market and being sold in 2017. From castles to conversions, here are our favourite properties this year.

1. Best Manor House

Yelvertoft, Northamptonshire, Sold

An impressive, meticulously restored, listed manor house, steeped in history, situated in just under five acres of gardens and paddock with stabling and a separate Coach House.

The home is steeped in history with Oliver Cromwell reputed to have stayed here during the English Civil War, the decisive Battle of Naseby was fought close by in 1645. Part of the home is believed to date from the Tudor era, but the grand country house has been changed significantly during Georgian times.

2. Most stunning international property

Chateauneuf De Grasse, France, €12,500,000

Why own one home in the sun when you could have three? This exceptional estate is located on the top of a hill, with over 11 hectares of land, and three houses.

Offering stunning countryside, village and sea views, the main house, which was built around 1930 is typical of a traditional Bastide. There are 11 bedrooms, with four staff bedrooms, in a separate apartment. The five reception rooms open out onto the manicured lawns, overlooking olive groves and beautiful lush gardens towards Grasse and the sea.

The second house on the property is a charming farmhouse, and the third is a guest house.

3. Most unusual home

Hampton, Surrey, POA

This restored Swiss chalet definitely catches the eye. The Chalet was imported from Switzerland in 1882 and was a garden feature for a substantial house called Riverholm.

Surrounded by acres of parkland which are protected by English Heritage this historic five floor, four bedroom listed building is now owned by a passionate property designer, who has restored The Swiss Chalet and its surrounding land back to its original splendour.

Highlights include a man-made beach, indoor spa complex, wine cellar holding 1,600 bottles, and moorings for up to 25 boats.

4. Cutest cottage

Longborough, Gloucestershire, £700,000

8. Best hideaway home

Gwaun Valley, Pembrokeshire, £795,950
