Located at the head of the Upper Calder Valley, Todmorden is a picturesque market town on the boundary of Yorkshire and Lancashire. The growth of the town accelerated during the industrial revolution with the establishment of textile mills alongside the Rochdale Canal and later the Leeds-Manchaster Railway. The railway and the direct services to Manchester continue to attract homeowners to the area, as Todmorden offers a regular service taking only 30 minutes.
The amazing landscapes that surround Todmorden will inevitably dominate your spare time, with local landmarks such as Stoodley Pike and the beach a Gaddings Dam (800 metres above sea level, and 60 miles from the coast) to tempt you out into the hills, back in the town itself you will find several pubs and restaurants along with the Hipperdrome Theatre, which offers comedy nights, cinema screenings along with live performances.

With the growth of the area during the industrial revolution, more civic buildings were built. Todmorden Town Hall, Dobroyd Castle were both designed by John Gibson who was a member of the team who designed the Houses of Parliament.
