Wirksworth is a fantastic market town located in the Derbyshire Dales area which has recently been voted the 10th best place to live in the whole of the UK according the annual survey undertaken by The Halifax in 2018. With its imposing stone buildings and intricate network of narrow lanes, yards and alleys, Wirksworth is a magnet for lovers of industrial history and heritage and has a great town centre full of amenities and with many coffee bars, public houses and restaurants all making for fantastic social integration with a strong community feel.
Annual local traditions range from Well Dressing in June to the annual Carnival and Arts Festival and Art & Architectural Trail each September. This is the time to experience the buzz of street theatre, music, fun family events and great food and drink. And the area has fared well within the housing market. Whilst the East Midlands saw a modest increase average asking prices last year of around 3%, Wirksworth itself recorded a 7.96% increase across 2018 according to the latest Zoopla Z index.
The area has many fantastic homes and offers a real variety of house types from Stone built cottages all the way through to architect designed contemporary dwellings. In 2018, Detached properties had an average sold price of £281,080 and semi-detached properties averaged at £190,500 with a total of 69 transactions taking place. The town is also surrounded by more fabulous scenery and countryside and is the gateway to the Peak District national park – Please watch our video on the area for more information and if you are considering buying or selling please do get in touch with us.”
