Follow our quick and easy instructions to organise your own charity golf day to support homeless causes.
The Fine & Country Foundation is here to provide you with a plethora of support, all for FREE. Our only criteria is that you choose to support a homeless project. For more information on our criteria, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
STEP #1: Find a local golf course; think about elegance and location. Call them to briefly explain your idea and request for a face-to-face meeting. Remember, initial contact should always be made through a phone call, not an email.
STEP #2: During your meeting, highlight the ease of the event, the benefit to your local homeless community, free PR for the golf club and the moral reasons to support this charity event. Secure a date, preferably anytime from late May until the end of September. Ask if the club will offer the course at a discounted rate in exchange for becoming a sponsor.
STEP #3: Check if they require minimum or maximum numbers for the event and other logistical details. For example, if your event will have a four-ball set up with a shotgun start. It is also worth confirming if they have the facilities for a light, pre-golf breakfast and/or a post-golf dinner.
STEP #4: If you have arranged a pre-golf breakfast, agree a set menu with the club. This can range from a bacon roll and coffee, to a full continental range with fresh fruit and pastries. Agree a price per person and confirm the deadline to submit your orders. Note: if you are providing food you need to take note of dietary requirements.
STEP #5: If you have arranged a post-golf dinner, request a two or three course set menu with an agreed price. Ask guests for their menu choices and dietary requirements when they purchase their tickets.
STEP #6: Sponsorship and auction prizes: this stage is the most important. Sponsorship helps with exposure, charitable profit and to prevent extortionate ticket prices. Approach local businesses like solicitors to sponsor a portion of the event and donate an auction prize. For assistance and details about sponsorship packages, please contact Charlotte Schofield, Foundation Coordinator.
STEP #7: Decide whether you want your donations to support a specific homeless charity or The Foundation's grant pot. Your marketing campaign, press releases and social media content will all be done for FREE as a thank you for supporting The Foundation.
STEP #8: Within your free marketing campaign you can request an order form. Ask the public to complete and return the form. Payment should be made to your office. After the event, you can make one transfer with all the donations. If you aren’t from Fine & Country or do not have an office, please get in touch for an alternative option.
STEP #9: You may need to ask your colleagues, friends or family to volunteer as stewards and assist with breakfast and/or the evening dinner and auction.
STEP #10: If you are hosting a dinner, this is the opportunity to bring out the awards and begin the auction. Remind your guests about the importance of homelessness and how their donations and auction bids make a huge impact.
NOTE: The ticket price and the amount you can raise depend on the prestige of the golf club, amount of sponsorship and if you host an auction. The average golf event, sponsorship with an auction can raise in the region of £5,000.
