Tucked away at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac yet only seven 0.68 miles from the centre of the Canterbury, this elegant modern property offers everything you need for contemporary family life. Originally a small bungalow it was rebuilt by the owners about six years ago to a very high standard and has now become a light and bright detached house with plenty of flexible accommodation and a flowing open plan design. There are top of the range fixtures and fittings wherever you look, whether it is the wood floors and doors, the coved ceilings or the beautiful bathrooms and kitchen.
The delightful main living space is built around a central chimney breast and creates a wonderful ambience for both family and friends. It includes a kitchen/breakfast area with two built in ovens, a large gas hob and a very large fridge freezer flowing through to the dining room and round to the seating area with a fireplace and double doors to the easily maintained garden. There is a well designed office complete with a sink so you can make coffee without have to go into the main house as well as a ground floor shower room, a charming kids’ playroom and a relaxing TV room.
Upstairs off the impressive galleried landing there is a stunning master bedroom with a magnificent en suite bathroom, a balcony overlooking the garden and a large dressing room. There are two further double bedrooms and a trendy family bathroom. You will find more surprises when you venture out into the easily maintained garden where you are bound to want to spend a great deal of time during the summer. There is a very large decked terrace for barbecues and al fresco dining, together with a sauna and play area while the driveway at the front of the house provide space for off road parking.
"We bought the original bungalow because we really loved the location. Not only is it quiet and secure for our young children but we are just a short walk from the centre of the City for high street stores, historic buildings, restaurants and bars as well as two mainline stations and if you need to commute to London you can be in St Pancras in less than an hour from Canterbury West station. At the same time we are also very close to fields and the Kent countryside where we can go running and cycling in safety.
We thoroughly enjoyed creating the new house as a lovely family home as well as a great place to entertain our friends and will be sad to leave it but we have decided to go home to Germany. We designed a home with plenty of flexible accommodation to suit a variety of requirements. For example it would be possible to use one of the ground floor sitting rooms as an additional bedroom as there is a nearby shower room – particularly for elderly friends or relations who find the stairs a problem. While the dressing room adjacent to the master bedroom would also make an ideal nursery or extra bedroom.
We have friendly neighbours, a local pub and great primary, grammar and private schools as well as two universities, further education colleges and a variety of sports clubs including the Kent County Cricket ground providing something for everyone".
