Seller Interview - Tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac in the charming hamlet of Milton is number 3 Walnut Close, a large and beautifully presented family home that was built in 1995. "My wife and I moved here five years ago," says the owner, "and it was the setting that proved to be the main attraction. With our two children we wanted to move somewhere more rural and more peaceful and when we happened upon this house it offered everything we had been looking for. It sits at the end of a small cul-de-sac and the garden backs onto nothing but open fields, so we have the most beautiful outlook. However we're not in the slightest bit isolated as just up the road we have Repton, with close links to the M42/M40 and M1 meaning we have easy access to work when we need to be in London and Cheltenham and to our families in both the South and North of England. It's a place where we've been able to enjoy the best of both worlds."
"The house was extended by the previous owners in 2007, so it was the ideal size and in excellent condition when we came here, however we've made a few changes here and there just to enhance it further and to put our stamp on it. We improved the look of the exterior and we updated the dcor inside and out, so now the interior has the look and feel of a country home but with some really nice modern touches. All in all it's a very good-looking house and it's also incredibly comfortable. The rooms are generously proportioned and there's a nice flow to the layout. We've been extremely happy here."
"The garden was overgrown and not really utilised to "show it off" so over the years we've done quite a bit of landscaping work to enhance it," continues the owner. "We've opened up space and added a large patio area decked area at the end of the garden. It's where we have our hot tub, large seating, pergola and stone BBQ. In the summer months, we enjoy entertaining and relaxing and taking in the gorgeous view of the countryside beyond."
Favourite Room: "The kitchen is the real heart of the home," says the owner. "It's a lovely big room with an island, an Aga that keeps the space cosy and warm, and there's space for a larger dining table, so ideal for more entertaining with family and friends."
Favourite aspect of the grounds or surrounding area: "Milton is only small but there's a wonderful sense of community here," says the owner. "The pub, which is just a short walk away, is a lovely place to get together with the village residents.
Memorable event (if not another favourite room or unique feature): "We have a large conservatory that runs the length of the house, and that's another of our favourite rooms," says the owner. "It's a place that we can sit and enjoy the views all year round, whatever the weather, and because it can get rather hot during the summer months we've had air conditioning installed to keep it nice and cool." We also enjoy the open fire in the living room.
Why they are leaving: "The reason we are looking to move is that the children have flown the nest and we are excited for our next chapter in looking to move to the coast. We will both miss the garden and cooking crumble with the apples from our tree, but we have many super memories of family and friends visiting. As a sun lover being able to sit out in the sunshine and soak in these beautiful surroundings has been wonderful."
