This house, grounds and the facilities within the property have all combined to provide us with a really fantastic quality of life,” continues the owner. “When we first moved in we added the dining area extension to create a bigger entertaining room, and then we turned a bedroom at the side of the house into a bigger room with an en suite so it became a master bedroom and then we also created a separate laundry room. “One of my favourite rooms in the house is the dining room,” says the owner. “It’s a less formal and it has a great view of the garden, so it’s wonderfully light and bright and has a really nice connection with the outside space.”

Favourite aspect of the grounds or surrounding area

“We have a large private garden at rear of the house with mature trees and shrubs, so we enjoy real privacy, and there are spaces for sitting out and relaxing and more than enough room for big summer parties. The children have space to run around and play football/cricket”.

“I’ve loved the fact that our surroundings are so peaceful and very private and yet nothing is out of reach,” says the owner. “Oadby is a town that caters for just about every need and the local transport links are very good so a taxi to the station is 10 minutes and then it is possible to be in central London in just over an hour. I’d say it’s a location that offers the best of both worlds. The children have a safe space, and there are neighbours close by but at the same time you can drive out to the countryside and be in proper country in 5-10 minutes”

“We had lots of social gatherings here. There is room for a grand piano easily. A large sitting room and dining room means that you can host lots of people easily and comfortably. At the same time the family room means that watching the TV can take place in a separate space”

What they’ll miss most / why they are leaving:

“It’s the whole ambiance of the house that I think I’ll miss most when we leave,” says the owner. “Lovely mature garden, large reception rooms and having two of them ie; family room and entertaining room has been great for family life. It is a light and airy house which is also cosy and easy to live in”. The owner is leaving to downsize after living in the house since 1967.
