During my life Ive lived all over the country, but I always seem to find my way back to Leicestershire because its quite simply the loveliest place. So when I came across this amazing piece of land fourteen years ago I jumped at the chance to buy it and build my dream family home, says Abbie.

I wanted to create a spacious house with an easy flowing layout and one that would be wonderfully light and bright throughout. I also wanted it to be easy to maintain, practical in terms of modern family living and I didnt want anyone to have to have to compromise on space, so I made sure that my childrens en-suite bedrooms were mirror images of each other and that the spare bedrooms were generously proportioned. In the main living areas, the large kitchen/diner, the snug and the huge main living room all interconnect with double doors that can be pushed back to create one fabulous entertaining space, and each of those rooms have French doors that lead out onto garden, so we can really bring the outside in when the weather is warm. We have an elegant dining room for more formal occasions, an amazing reception hall thats double height and features floor-to ceiling glazing across one wall which really creates a wow factor and up on the second floor we have a huge games room. Every element of the design has been meticulously thought out and the house as a whole is everything I hoped it would be.

Creating a real connection between the house and the garden was something else that was very important to me when coming up with the design, because the setting is without doubt one of the standout features of this property, continues Abbie. We have this lovely big garden that backs onto nothing but open fields, so the view is absolutely incredible. The principle reception rooms each overlook and open onto the garden, and Ive kept the boundary fence at the far end deliberately low so as not to obscure the view. At the moment we have a large patio terrace and then the rest of the space is mainly laid to lawn, but theres more than enough room for a childrens play area, a vegetable patch or indeed just a good game of football. The gardens essentially a bit of a blank canvas that the new owners could really have fun developing.

One of my favourite rooms in the house is the main living room, says Abbie. Its a large but very tranquil space and its a lovely place to just sit and admire that stunning view.
The location was a huge plus when I initially came across this piece of land and for us as a family its been absolutely ideal, says Abbie. Were surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside and yet just a mile up the road we have the busy town of Market Bosworth, which boasts some lovely shops, pubs, football and tennis clubs as well as some of the most sought-after schools in the area.
The games room on the second floor has been a bonus and weve all had a lot of fun in there, says Abbie. Its like a sports bar, theres space for our snooker table, air hockey table and even a football table, in fact at one point we even set up a little net and the children would play soft tennis up there.
Its been the most amazing family home and its given us all a fabulous quality of life. Its everything I hoped it would be and Im sure whoever is lucky enough to own it next will be extremely happy here.
