This large and extremely well appointed family home enjoys a superb location on a quiet residential street in South Woodford.
When the current owners bought the house it’s fair to say that it was in need of some TLC, but over time they have ended up doing an awful lot of work. They have redecorated throughout, changed a lot of the flooring, upgraded the wiring and outside they have had the driveway re-laid and also dramatically improved the garden. However the biggest change was to the kitchen, they added an extension that has created one large, open-plan space where the family can gather for cooking, eating or relaxing and it’s now the real focal point of the house. It’s a great room for entertaining, particularly during the summer when you can open up almost five meters of bi-folding doors and extend the space right out into the garden.
The house benefits from a generous amount of outside space, which was something that initially attracted the owners to the property. To the front there is a small garden as well as an off-road parking space, and to the back you have a lovely big open lawn as well as a patio. The owners tell us that it was a bit of a jungle when they came here, but over time they cleared the overgrown plants and created a very family friendly space that’s also incredibly easy to maintain.
"I’d say that the location was definitely one of the biggest selling points when we initially came across this house. We have a lot of family living nearby, which has been a real plus, and the East End is an area of London that has seen a huge amount of improvement over the years. We have a fantastic selection of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes all just a stone’s throw away, the transport links are excellent – South Woodford Tube station, which is on the Central Line, is only just up the road – and we have Epping Forest on our doorstep, so we have space to escape the everyday hustle and bustle of life. In my mind it’s a place that has something for everyone.”
“We’ve been so happy here and the only reason we’ve decided to move is because the house is simply too big for just the two of us. In terms of what we’ll miss, it will be the general feel of the house and the fantastic amount of space, but most of all it will be the location. It’s convenient in terms of access to shops, amenities and the city centre, and we’ve made some really good friends during our time here. It’s definitely going to be a bit of a wrench when the time comes to leave.”
