The mainline station can whisk you to St Pancras and Victoria in about an hour and a quarter and there are good medical facilities, primary and secondary schools as well as a castle and a museum displaying Whitstable’s seafaring history. If you enjoy watersports the Whitstable Yacht Club is one of the oldest and largest sailing clubs in Britain, right next to Oyster Coast Watersports, a regional hub for wind surfing and water sports enthusiasts.
