Another feature of this property is the addition of a further sitting room and bedroom to the rear. Vendor Interview - It was the fantastic location of Crofters Barn in the heart of green belt countryside which first attracted us to the property, say the current owners of this single storey home set within substantial gardens. The extensive grounds were also a real draw for us, the paddocks and manege providing space to keep horses or pigs. This has indeed proved to be a wonderful environment in which to live, surrounded by spectacular vistas with plenty of opportunity for rural walks with the dogs.
Since moving in, the owners have made various improvements to the property. We have installed a new kitchen as well as new flooring throughout, they say, and created a wet room with new tiles in the bathroom. PVC French windows to the rear allow us to make the most of the fabulous views, as well as creating an easy flow between the indoor and outdoor living spaces. The property possesses plenty of scope for extension, with a large patio adjacent to the house upon which one could build, enhancing the quirky character of the original building.
Outside, the attractive gardens provide colour and joy all year round. We have landscaped the garden and planted trees and rare perennials and pollinating varieties to attract bees and butterflies. We share the garden with a plethora of wildlife, from badgers and voles to foxes and frogs. We love to watch the birds that visit us here, the buzzards and turtle doves, the thrushes and nutcatchers. The orchard is resplendent with fruit bushes, and we even have a productive crop of artichokes to enjoy there is nothing more delicious than food grown in ones own garden!
Though rurally situated, the property enjoys easy access to local amenities. There are shops in nearby Riddings, say the owners, and an equestrian centre just across the road. Alfreton is just a short drive away for a wider range of facilities.
The front room is just lovely, with picturesque views and a cosy atmosphere, especially in the colder months of the year, enjoying the warmth of the fire and gazing out of the window at the wintry landscape.
Best thing about the grounds/local area
Though we are surrounded by fields and countryside, we are within easy reach of all the amenities of nearby towns and villages.
The property is wonderful for entertaining both inside and out, with its spacious lounge and generous gardens. This is the perfect party house, with plenty of space for overnight guests, too.
Outside - The property occupies beautiful gardens and grounds extending to over two acres. The land to this property is perfect for equestrian enthusiasts as it includes a paddock with small manage and four stables. Two of which are of brick construction and two timber.
To the front of the property there is ample parking and to the side there is a single garage which also houses three separate store rooms and a tack room. There is plenty of parking here ideal for various vehicle types including horse trailers, caravans, motor homes and the like.
The garden has a large lawn full of shrubs and fruit trees and patio area which wraps around the rear of the property perfect for entertaining or simply relaxing and enjoying the stunning surroundings. For those with a keen interest in nature, the garden attracts an array of birds and mammals.
