The uninterrupted views over the common were just stunning and we knew straight away that it was the one for us,” recall the current owners.
“We’ve lived here since 2012 and we have made a number of enhancements, including the addition of the cinema room complete with authentic seats but perhaps the biggest change has been the installation of the library. We worked closely with a fantastic local builder who created something quite special indeed. It’s our favourite room where we tend to spend most of our time as we often head straight in there after dinner and relax in front of the fire.”
“We are both keen walkers and that was another key feature that attracted us to the area. We look out over Biggleswade Common which is around 300 acres of land, as well as the RSPB sanctuary. We can walk for miles and miles without seeing anybody or anything. It’s idyllic. We also enjoy visiting the Jordans Mill museum and café, as well as days out at the Shuttleworth Air Museum where we can watch the air displays and music concerts in the summer. I’ve got many photographs of Spitfires and Hurricanes as they fly over the house towards the airfield.”
“The outside space is fabulous too. It’s a beautiful area, particularly in the summer when our friends and family come to stay, and we can enjoy a BBQ in the sun. We attended a Grand Designs exhibition and although we didn’t find what we were looking for, we did leave with two full size wooden horses and a giraffe! The horses sit in the paddock with their heads over the fence and the giraffe is right at home amongst the trees. They always make us smile. We are also treated to the most spectacular sunsets as the view is completely uninterrupted.”
“It was the house itself and the location that made Furzenhall Barn the perfect home for us. It’s a lovely feeling to come back up the driveway, close the gates behind us and just shut ourselves off from the world. It will break our hearts to go, but I will be working abroad and that’s the only reason why we are moving on,” conclude the current owners.
