We moved here about 14 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed every moment but health problems mean that sadly time it is time to downsize but we still want to stay in the same area and will probably move to Birchington. One of us wanted to live in the country and the other wanted to live by the sea so this house was the ideal compromise. Indeed, we fell in love with the quiet countryside location where we only have two neighbouring houses yet we are near enough to walk to the main road and bus stop so we can go into to Birchington without having to drive if we don't want to and it is only a 20 minute walk to our favourite spot - Minnis Bay. When we moved here the garden was very overgrown so it has been a labour of love creating the beautiful outdoor space you see today. We also built our lovely conservatory where we spend much of our time watching the variety of birds in the garden and we also installed the new kitchen about five years ago.

Nearby Birchington is a charming village with its range of individual shops, supermarkets, hairdressers, nail bars, vets and a medical centre as well as the mainline station. There are some excellent restaurants and pubs in the vicinity including The Smugglers and the Powell Arms plus Quex Park with its museum and outside complex incorporating a garden centre, leisure activity areas, craft shops and a livery stables for horsey enthusiasts. Quex Barn offers wonderful food shopping in its farmshop and a great eating experience in the restaurant. There is an outstanding primary school in St Nicholas at Wade and a good local primary school in Birchington as well as the King Ethelbert secondary school and the Ursuline College, while grammar and private schools can be found in nearby Broadstairs and Ramsgate.

Whatever your interests are in terms of sports, Birchington and the surrounding area can probably provide it. There is a bowls and tennis club as well as a water skiing centre at Beresford Gap and a sailing clu
