Vendor Interview - Our parents bought the house in 1969 primarily because it was convenient for my fathers work at the hospital in the City, but also because it could comfortably accommodate our large family. They also loved the fact that it backs onto Moseley Park, and from the garden we had direct access, so when we were young we viewed it as the most wonderful extension of our garden. We all played tennis at the club there. Wed spend hours out there with other children from the road, and mum would have to ring a big school bell to get us in for supper. When my mother and father first bought the property they modernised it throughout, and then in 1991, when us children all flew the nest, they made yet more changes. Its a big house, and as there was far too much space for just the two of them they converted the top two floors into a duplex apartment and they lived on the lower two floors. As it stands today its still split in two, although it would be so easy to convert back into one big family home. In fact thats whats so lovely about it, its something of a blank canvass thats crying out to be modernised and for a family to fill it and enjoy it just as we have over the years. In my mind the location couldnt be more ideal, says Jean. The house is within striking distance of the city centre and the transport links are excellent, so travelling further afield is easy. However Moseley itself is a lovely little village and we have this amazing open green space at the back of the house, so really we benefit from the best of both worlds. One thing that we all loved was the real sense of community on Chantry Road, says Jean. We have a newsletter once a month with information about clubs and upcoming events, and at various times during the year everyone tries to get together. For instance, at Christmas there is a Music Hall event at the end of the road and many neighbours participate. Its great fun. On Boxing Day theres usually a big brunch. Its something thats a rarity these days.
