This quirky Victorian home still retains many original features and offers great access to schools and the station and is ideal for anyone looking for a project.
This is the first time in well over 50 years that this quirky Victorian villa has come to market and it is full of interesting and unusual features.
The area offers great access to local amenities, including a good choice of well-regarded schools and it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the station. The lovely church is at the heart of the community and my cousin was part of the local arts group and choral society, so there is always plenty to do.
It’s hard to choose a favourite room as there is something to like about them all! The size and layout of the bright and cheerful rooms, as well as the exciting little nooks and crannies as well as the high ceilings that flood the house with light and a sense of space are amazing. The beautiful hall-way has lots of archways and intricate plasterwork, including little faces that look down at you. The front room was always referred to as the ‘Music Room’ as it was the hub of all the parties and included two baby grand pianos. It’s a big room with a lovely atmosphere that is ideal for entertaining friends. The conservatory is another quirky room that looks out into the mature garden which is full of wildlife and birds. There’s always something exciting to see.
My cousin is a very artistic person and he thoroughly enjoyed discovering and renovating the original features, including the beautiful marble fire-places that had been boarded up for many years.
My cousin is such an interesting man and the house reflects his personality. He lived there for many years and always loved it. He is a very creative person and everything he did, he did to the very best of his abilities. The house is crying out for someone to take care of it and bring out its full potential. It needs some love and attention, but it will give it all back and more.
I think the best thing about living here though would be the local community. The neighbours are just amazing and there are so many kind people living on the street who rallied around and supported my cousin when he needed it. Everyone looks out for each other, it’s just wonderful.
