Vendor Interview - Ive lived in the area all of my life and when the opportunity arose to build our own timber framed Potton house on the site that I have lived on since 1972, we jumped at the chance. We designed everything ourselves and its been a lovely home for us over the last 16 years, in fact, we havent had to make any changes at all as we got it right first time, say the current owners.

We are surrounded by trees and foliage, so it is very quiet and peaceful, yet everything we need is easily available. The transport links are excellent as we have a choice of two international airports within a 45-minute drive, as well as good access to the motorway and rail network too. Its a beautiful area to live in as there are plenty of lovely countryside walks to enjoy, as well as the National Forest which is nearby. Theres a good selection of shops and restaurants in the local area or we can travel a little further afield to access the amenities in Birmingham and Leicester.

What they will miss most:

We will miss our friends and the area as we have lived here for so long, but the time is right to move closer to our family and start a new chapter, conclude the current owners.

Best thing about the grounds:

We worked closely with a notable and highly respected garden designer to create an outside space that is full of year-round colour and interest. The beautiful rhododendrons and hydrangeas never fail to make us smile when they are in full bloom and we love watching the trees as they change colour in the autumn months. The large terrace area is perfect for entertaining and relaxing as we can sit in the sun and watch the fabulous array of birds that come to visit the bird feeders.

Favourite room:

I enjoy cooking, so I can often be found in the kitchen and our guests tend to gravitate towards the warmth of the 4-oven AGA in the colder months. Most of the downstairs rooms open out to the garden which makes this a fabulous home for entertaining. Weve hosted many parties for the various local associations that I belong to, as well as informal gatherings around the dining table that seats up to 12 guests. Weve had a lot of fun times in this house!

Outside - The property is accessed via a long tree lined driveway that leads to an extensive parking area and a large car port for two cars. The rear garden designed by a renowned designer is accessed via an ornate lychgate. The beautifully landscaped private rear garden features lawned areas, an ornate sun terrace, established trees and shrubs and a slabbed enclosed patio offering a idyllic place to relax and unwind.

Location - Burton-upon-Trent is a town on the River Trent in East Staffordshire, close to the border with Derbyshire and about 30 miles north east of Birmingham. The National Forest encompasses the town and extends eastwards to Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The area boasts three excellent shopping centres, with a good mix of specialist shops and the countrys leading retailers. The Victorian town hall, in all its Gothic splendour, is the ideal venue for concerts, exhibitions and other functions. The Brewhouse Arts Centre, is a multi-purpose arts building incorporating a 230 seat theatre, gallery, studios, media centre, cinema, darkroom and a delightful bar bistro in which to relax.

For public transport, the town is served by Burton-on-Trent railway station with two platforms. Platform One for Derby, Nottingham, London and the North; Platform Two for Tamworth, Birmingham and the South. The station is situated on the Cross-Country route, between the principal cities of Derby and Birmingham.

The home is also well served with bus routes going to the town centre and hospital, Swadlincote and Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Within walking distance are Bretby Golf Club, Burton Tennis Club, Leander Rowing Club, Meadowside Swimming and Leisure Centre, The National Brewery Centre and multiplex cinema.
