The house itself has been designed with family life and entertaining in mind. Externally it has a more traditional look so fits beautifully with the vernacular architecture, however inside it’s very much a modern home for modern living. Each of the rooms is well proportioned, the ceilings are high and the layout, although very traditional – separate kitchen/diner, separate dining room etc. – has a lovely flow from room to room, which enhances the feeling of space. There are three reception rooms, which are flexible in terms of how they can be used, a large kitchen/diner, a light, bright conservatory and five large bedrooms, two of which are en suite. The owners wanted to design a house that a family could grow into rather than out of, and they say that they couldn’t be more pleased with the results of all of their hard work.

Another lovely feature of Bryn Teg is the huge amount of outside space. The house itself sits well back from the road and to the front is a large driveway – which the owners say can take at least eight cars – and also a very spacious front lawn. To the rear there are two patio areas for sitting, relaxing and entertaining, and then the rest of the space is laid to lawn and edged with a mature border of shrubs and trees. The owners say that the garden is extremely low maintenance, which has allowed them much more time to enjoy it, and they also say that it is a place where they enjoy complete and utter peace and privacy.

Bryn teg, our home since 2002, is located on the outskirts of Haverfordwest, in the Withybush area. It is in close proximity to a shopping outlet, including M&S, Boots pharmacy, Pets at Home and local Award Winning Prendergast Butchers to name just a few. The Welsh and English medium primary and secondary schools are all within walking distance, as is Withybush hospital. This, combined with very easy access to the coast and the A40 north and east, makes it an ideal location. It does indeed feel far from the madding crowd whilst also having everything we could possibly want on our doorstep.

It was built to our design and specifications, giving us many multi-functional rooms, one of our favourites being the front sitting room which has a large bay window that gives us a private calming view across the front garden. It’s a space where we can sit and watch the world go by while we relax. To the rear our spacious conservatory leads to the two outdoor patio areas. This is another favourite space of ours for enjoying time relaxing with family and friends, whilst the younger members are free to enjoy the expanse of lawn.

Above the very large double garage is another substantial room. In the past we have used this as a hobby room but have always thought it has the potential to be turned into a self contained annexe.

As Building Contractors, creating this spacious, comfortable home for our family has been achieved with pride - a true labour of love.
