Situated on a hilltop, at the end of a no through lane, stands a Grade II Listed farmhouse dating back to circa 1550 with a total of nearly 4,500 sq. ft. of accommodation. Set in grounds of just under 9 acres including paddock land, outbuildings and a separate two storey converted piggery barn which has the potential for a self-contained annexe. The open plan gardens surround the farmhouse and far reaching views of open countryside can be seen from almost every window.
The 16th century yeoman’s farmhouse has pleasing elevations and is constructed of timber framed brick nog with a roughcast infill and an oversailing first floor. Solid wood timber doors with wrought iron fittings open to the entrance halls and sitting room. Leaded light windows (some original) overlook gardens and countryside. Within the property, there are exposed beams, flagstone flooring, original polished floorboards, handmade oak latch and brace internal doors and original inglenook fireplaces, one of which has a bread oven. There is also underfloor heating to parts of the ground floor and radiators to the rest of the house. A main feature of the property is the Tudor stone fireplace in the master suite with engravings dating back to the 1500s. It is also believed that an Iron Age fort and settlement once occupied this site and is believed to be the only privately owned site in England.
