The current owners moved up to Lincolnshire six years ago and came upon Bassingham by accident. “We had never heard of the village but were immediately entranced by its abundant greenery and uniquely designed homes. We immediately decided we wanted to live there, ideally on Lincoln Road, and were delighted when this house came onto the market as we loved its distinctive design and superb build quality using reclaimed bricks.”

Having moved into their new home in 2014, the current owners have made a number of improvements since. “The house was nearly twenty years old when we bought it and so we’ve updated numerous features such as the windows and doors, and the bathrooms and cloakroom. We updated the reclaimed brick fireplace by installing a new inset wood burner which generates a really cosy atmosphere in the evening or on a winter’s day.”

“We really love the entrance hallway. It creates such a wonderfully welcoming ambience with its galleried landing and feature reclaimed brick wall. But we’d have to say our favourite room is the sitting room. It has a dual aspect with bay window to the front of the house and French doors leading out onto the garden to the rear, meaning the room is not only beautifully light and airy, but that we can also enjoy watching magnificent sunsets over the garden. And of course, we now have the added pleasure of the woodburning stove.”

“Bassingham has proved to be such a great place to live and has a real sense of community which has never been more evident than in the last few months with local volunteers helping during the recent lockdown. And in past years, the village has opened up its gardens and scarecrow trails to raise funds for local charities.

“We’ve really enjoyed living in this house. Its layout has been ideal for us and it’s been great to access the garage direct from the house, especially in winter. We can certainly understand why Peter Sowerby Homes are such well-respected builders. And of course, we will miss Bassingham, as will our Labrador who has been spoiled with so many wonderful countryside walks direct from our front door!”

Bassingham is a thriving rural village set in picturesque Lincolnshire countryside with a wide range of amenities including: a church, doctor’s surgery, play school, two general stores (one with a post office the other with a renowned local butcher), two pubs, a beauty salon, and a local community centre and playing field/play park which hosts numerous local clubs and activities.

A more comprehensive range of shopping, eating, and cultural facilities are available nearby in the vibrant historic cathedral city of Lincoln (8 miles), and the market town of Newark (11 miles) which boasts one of the finest Georgian market squares in the UK and offers frequent mainline train services to London and Leeds.

Bassingham has its own primary school whilst secondary education is available in Lincoln at The Priory Academy LSST, and at the Lincoln Minster School.
