"Whilst the buildings were being converted, my husband and I drove past in the car and thought what a lovely place this would be to live," says the owner. "The surroundings are so peaceful and picturesque, but by no means isolated, and the buildings within this little enclave are all quite different, but all extremely attractive. Some months later, after our previous house had sold, we were totally surprised when our estate agent suggested we take a look at a newly converted barn, and it turned out to be on the development that we'd admired from afar. We walked into the house, fell totally in love with the place and we've since had fifteen very happy years here."

"The property has been beautifully converted to take full advantage of this amazing setting. The main living room has two big bays and three sets of floor-to-ceiling windows – the original cart openings – that bring in an amazing view of the garden and the old airfield beyond; the kitchen has two huge picture windows and one of the bedrooms has another of the old cart openings that has been fully glazed, so again, in that room you almost get the feeling that you're outside. The tremendous amount of glazing means that you always feel very connected to the outside space, but it also makes the house as a whole wonderfully light and bright."

"The house was converted to a very high standard so we haven't had to do much to it, just add our own little touches here and there. However outside, the garden has seen quite the transformation," continues the owner. "It was really just a rough piece of land when we came here, so we cleared it and then added lots of shrubs and trees, open areas of lawn, raised beds and we paid tribute to the fact that we overlook a WW2 airfield by sourcing an old aircraft propeller and making it into a very attractive garden feature; it certainly gets people's attention. But it's the views that make this place so unique, and therefore we also have a large patio and a courtyard garden that gets the last of the day's sun, so there are plenty of places to sit out and just soak it all in."

Favourite Room: "The living room with its fabulous far reaching views is what sold this house to us and so I'd have to pick that room as my absolute favourite," says the owner. "During the summer months the outlook is glorious, but when there's a thick blanket of snow covering the land, the light is incredible and it's lovely to be able to light the log burner, be cosy and warm inside, but still enjoy that spectacular outlook."

Favourite aspect of the grounds and surrounding area: "The house is situated just 1.25 miles from Metheringham, which has a good mix of shops and from the station we can catch a train into Lincoln, Sleaford or Peterborough. We are also within seven miles of Woodhall Spa famous for The National Golf Centre and offering a wonderful selection of independent shops, tea rooms, restaurants as well as the Kinema in the Woods so we've never felt cut off living here," says the owner "However, at home we're surrounded by nothing but peace and tranquillity and the most amazing views, and that, for us, is what makes this place so very special."

"The master bedroom is another super room, again because of the view," says the owner. "If there is a storm raging we love to leave the curtains open at night and lie in bed watching the lightning and the weather roll in."

What they'll miss most: "This place is all about the glorious outlook; that's what really sets it apart and that is what we're really going to miss when we move," says the owner.
