History

Home Farm was a working dairy farm for many years but in more recent times the farm was home to the village Post Office. The oldest part, which is now the family kitchen and family room, dates back to around 1700 and would have been a single storey crofter’s cottage. We believe the first floor was added between 1820 to 1850. The three storey section fronting the road was added around 1760 when it was the trend for home owners to show off their status. The large chimneys indicate the original house had a bread oven. The farm’s original slate cheese press has been cleverly used as a feature in the fire pit area.

Location

Normanton on Soar is a picturesque village just north of Loughborough nestled within the beautiful Leicestershire countryside. Close to its border with neighbouring Nottingham and Derby the village is conveniently placed with easy access onto the M1, M42, East Midlands Airport and Parkway railway.
