“I moved here from London some eight years ago as I fell in love with the house and the area the moment I saw it. However the children are now growing up and I feel it is time to start a new chapter in my life but I shall continue to live in Ramsgate where I and the family have made many friends. It is great to be part of the square, which has a real community spirit, while the town offers everything you need for day to day activities. We can walk the dogs on blue flag sandy beaches or Pegwell Nature Reserve, take a short stroll to the bars, cafes and restaurants that abound along by the marina - my brother owns the Royal Harbour Hotel along with the Empire Room and Little Ships Restaurant, or cycle along the Viking trail all the way to Reculver if you feel energetic. There are excellent private and state schools in the vicinity including Wellesley House and St Lawrence as well as outstanding primary and grammar schools. The sailing fraternity can moor their boats at the only Royal Harbour in the country and enjoy the facilities at the Royal Temple Yacht club and if golf is your game there are numerous courses and clubs nearby including St Augustine’s and North Foreland as well as the championship courses at Sandwich. I fell in love with the rich history of the area too – Romans, Vikings and Christianity all came ashore here. It is steeped in Art, Literary, Napoleonic and Royal History too and of course the infamous Dunkirk Little Ships who departed from here in 1940. The 80th Anniversary is in 2020.  If you want to go to London the high speed train from Ramsgate will whisk you there is an hour and a quarter while a day trip on the ferry from Dover can take you to Calais to fill up your wine cellar. There are a number of theatres and cinemas in the area as well as art galleries and museums but if you want some more serious retail therapy you can spend time at Westwood Cross shopping centre close by – so what’s not to like? It has been perfect for my family.
