"The farm has been in my family for six generations," says the owner, "and my wife and I took ownership some thirty years ago, and it's a place that is quite simply out of this world. We're surrounded by nothing but the most glorious rolling countryside, so the views in every single direction are just magnificent. It's a place that definitely needs to be seen and experienced to be fully appreciated"
"We initially ran the farm, but we felt the need to expand and diversify and so given this spectacular location we decided to transform the place into a holiday destination. We now have the beautiful original farmhouse, four cottages that were built just over four years ago, a fourteen-bedroom guest house and we've also created a country café, a restaurant and a farm shop, and the whole business has been phenomenally successful. People come from far and wide and often return year after year, and the café and shop proved very popular. We've also held weddings and other special occasions within the grounds, which provide the most spectacular backdrop, so the opportunities for the new owners to expand and diversify yet further are immense."
"The property extends to around five acres – although more land could be available by separate negotiation – and we have a huge garden filled with pretty plants and flowers, and very large pond in which we currently have a little boat. Paddocks and a beautiful wildflower meadow surround the garden, and beyond the grounds belonging to The Grainary are open fields and vast swathes of woodland and lake. It's such a stunning environment and when you're sitting out there taking in those views you really do feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere, so it's often hard to believe that we're within striking distance of the lovely seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough."
"One of my favourite rooms is actually the porch, which I'm sitting in now," says the owner. "It's one of the many places where I can sit quietly and just gaze out at those magnificent views."
"The business is thriving, but there's still potential to expand. We currently have planning permission in place for another 8 units, which could be an exciting project for the new owners."
"This is a very special place, one of a kind, and we've put our hearts and souls into developing what is now a thriving business," says the owner. "However it's time for my wife and I to retire and for someone else to take the reigns. We've had over thirty extremely happy years here and we'll miss running the business, but we'll take away some very fond memories."
