“We have loved living here over many years and bringing up our family in such a delightful spot. However we feel it is now time to downsize and let another family enjoy it as much as we have. There is a great community spirit both in the immediate neighbourhood as well as in the village. We have The Bell pub and restaurant that is getting excellent reviews under the new management, an excellent primary school, the Co-op mini store, a post office facility in the village hall, a children's playground and a mainline railway station as well as the East Kent heritage railway that is in use much of the year, particularly on bank holidays.

 

The Grange was originally a large manor house with gardens stretching down to 'The Terrace' and the coach house still exists. However the manor fell into disrepair and was demolished and replaced by a large bungalow but the grounds were noted for the assortment of large specimen trees. When we bought our house there were two large copper beeches in the front garden and a similar sized oak tree in the rear but they were badly damaged in the 1987 storm and had to be removed. However there are still a number of large trees in the vicinity providing an attractive backdrop.

 

Although we live in a village we can be in Canterbury for shopping in a little over 20 minutes while Dover docks for the Continent very near and, as well as Shepherdswell station, we are only about an hour from London on the high speed train from Dover Priory. There are excellent shopping facilities in and around nearby Whitfield including a large Tescos, B and Q, a B and M value store and Screwfix as well as doctors, hairdressers, pubs and restaurants while Dover, Sandwich and Canterbury offer excellent secondary state and private education.”
