Owners Comments - Royal Oak Cottage is a superb, detached country home, standing in an idyllic setting with views stretching across the rolling countryside. The present owners, Dave and Elaine said that they immediately fell in love with the location, but the house was totally uninhabitable. However, they could see the potential to extend and create a very special home.
The house began life as 'The Royal Oak,' pub with an attached building, and with great attention to detail and quality, Dave and Elaine completed a huge refurbishment, stripping everything back and reroofing. It was an exciting journey, as they uncovered oak trusses in the bedrooms and were able to convert an old outside toilet into an elevated sunroom, where they can relax and appreciate views of the gentle landscape; whilst the windowed cellar is a great office space."
They explain, "We now have a superb home with a fantastic luxury of space and comfort. We ensured an easy flow of ground floor rooms, and the double-sided log burner in the lounge and dining room is a pleasing feature, making both rooms a cosy winter retreat. The wealth of space in the lounge, sitting room, and sunroom enables us to meet together as a family but everyone can find their own space if needed. The streamlined modern kitchen is the busy hub of the household. It is equipped for the enthusiastic cook and there is plenty of space around the breakfast bar for chatty informal meals."
"The house is probably at its best when full of people and can easily accommodate overnight guests. The charming and private garden with its swathe of lawns is also a great entertaining space and for a children's party, we had three bouncy castles. The electric gates and garden size make it a child-friendly zone and we have parking for at least ten cars."
"Our project continued from the house into the garden, where there is a one-bedroom annexe that with the doors open invites the garden inside. The summer house has a double barbecue and patio, whilst an attractive pergola leads from the house to the summer house.
The three stables, tack room, and two-acre paddock make the house perfect for horse lovers."
"We are only twenty minutes from Shrewsbury and Condover is ten minutes away., so we have the best of town and country living. There are excellent local schools and supermarkets close by. We take away happy memories and know that the new owners will love the house as we have."
