"I relocated to Bath to take up a senior position in my work and I wanted to find a home that would be peaceful and private. I needed somewhere where I could think clearly and creatively, whilst also having space to entertain guests. I remember driving up the lane and finding this south facing gem and I was struck by the stunning views across a time-stood-still valley. The house looked so charming that I'd made my mind up to buy it even before I stepped inside! 13 years later, I can confidently say that Pear Tree Cottage has lived up to my expectations and I can look back on some wonderful years here," says Richard."Situated just a few miles from the M4, access to the motorway network is very straightforward and Pear Tree Cottage is just a stone's throw from the World Heritage city of Bath. It's just a short drive or 20 minute cycle ride down the country lanes to access all that the centre of Bath has to offer. "Built in 1700, the sitting room is the oldest part of the house, for which I have all of the original deeds going back over 300 years! It has a lovely character with a small inglenook and wood burner and it really is the perfect place to relax on a winter's evening."
"I love my beautiful limed-oak and granite kitchen and I like to cook on the AGA and entertain guests in the sunny dining room."
"I enjoy the tranquillity and privacy of the open countryside and as my work takes up quite a lot of my time, it's a great pleasure to be able to get home quickly and enjoy the seclusion and rural setting in the evenings."
"My master bedroom has a gorgeous sunny outlook and a very inviting wet room. After a run in the valley, a shower in the wet room really does hit the spot."
"Pear Tree Cottage is a home with a charming and unique character. It sits high on the sunny side of a beautiful, unspoilt valley and these are the things that I will miss most of all. However, I am retiring and it's time to move back to the place where I was born and grew up and I'll always have the memories of the very happy years in this lovely house."
